What will the Idols Sing Tuesday?

The theme for this week is the music of the Bee Gees and the final four will be doing two songs a piece…

As I told you before, it was Bee Gees week during season two that made me fall in love with Clay Aiken…

I was a Ruben Studdard fan until I heard the crystal clear voice of Clay hitting those glory notes in “To Love Somebody.” Simon called it one of the best “Idol” performances ever…

And then he trashed him when Clay sang “Grease” for his second song. But Simon’s words had no effect on me, because I had already fallen. And I haven’t gotten up yet…

You may recall that Josh Gracin also sang “To Love Somebody,” and though his performance was good, he was overmatched and sang it as his swan song the next night, holding his child as he sang…

So what should this year’s final four sing? Since I’m not a 70s music fan, it’s hard for me to choose songs for everyone, but I’ve got a few guesses/requests…

Melinda—“To Love Somebody” and “Heartbreaker”
If anyone can pick up the “To Love Somebody” mantle, it’s Melinda and I can hear her handling the smooth sounds of “Heartbreaker,” which was a big hit for Dionne Warwick…

LaKisha—“Emotion”
KiKi might also go for “Somebody” or “Heartbreaker,” but I can also hear her attempting the Destiny’s Child version of this one…

Blake—“How Deep Is Your Love” and “Immortality”
Remember the group of guys that wowed us all during Hollywood week? Blake was in that group and the song was “How Deep Is Your Love.” As for my second choice, I know it’s a slow one, but I can hear Blake singing it and it would silence the naysayers who criticized his lack of singing last week. But I would lean more to the Donny Osmond version (Yes, I said Donny Osmond.)…

As for Jordin, or a second song for LaKisha, I really haven’t a clue.

What are your thoughts?...
