Reliving that Abdul magic...

All you youngsters out there only know Paula Abdul as the sometimes loopy judge on “American Idol.”

But the rest of us remember her as the queen of dance pop in the late 80s and early 90s giving us plenty of songs to entertain our ears while her videos entertained our eyes…

Now Virgin Records is giving us a chance to relive that Abdul magic with the release of “Greatest Hits: Straight Up!”…

The new CD, which hits stores tomorrow (May 8th), recycles much of the same from the 2000 “Paula Abdul: Greatest Hits” CD, including the same photo shoot, but there are some differences. “Straight Up!” drops “Crazy Love” and the “Megamix Medley” in favor of “Will You Marry Me,” “Ain’t Never Gonna Give You Up,” “One Or the Other” and “It’s All About Feeling Good.” Plus, “Straight Up!” gives us a different mix of the forgotten classic, “My Love Is For Real.”

If you already own the 2000 edition (as I do), then there’s really no need to upgrade since the newer songs just don’t measure up to the classics. But if you need a Paula fix—and since it doesn’t look like that long-awaited Paula Abdul Idol theme night is ever going to happen—be sure to add this one to your collection…
