Phil Does Go Out In A "Blaze of Glory"...

9:26 We’re back…Ford commercial: “Paint It Black”…The Idols are participants in a “Moulin Rouge”-esque circus with Blake as the ringmaster with a white face…A little wild…Phil is mega-nervous…And now, so am I…

9:27 Ryan tells us that we can now go to the website and vote for our favorite song from the songwriting competition…

9:27 Bottom row stands—Melinda, Phil, LaKisha…Looks like I was right…Melinda…Ryan says there were 135 million votes in the two weeks…Melinda is safe…Here’s where it gets interesting. I was really hoping this group would go last…I think Phil is expecting to go home…LaKisha is safe…Phil is going home…No big surprise. He flashes his winning smile, as does his wife…Goodbye video is now set to Carrie’s “I’ll Stand By You.” Interesting…Phil’s starting to lose it. I tried, babe. I really did…Phil turns away. I was hoping that this group would go last so that Phil could take the show out with a “Blaze of Glory”…Melinda is crying…Ryan says he’s a good man…Ryan doesn’t really give Phil much of a chance to say anything. And why was that?...Phil heads out into the audience onto the mini-stage…He’s grasping the irony of the lyrics and enjoying it…Phil gives hugs to all of the judges—even Simon…He hugs his Navy friends and sings with them… And now he gets a kiss from his wife, but we don’t see it because the director cuts to LaKisha bawling. Why? The Idols join him and give him a hug…Okay, I need a minute…Phil looks at Randy and says, “Thank you”…Chris gives him a big hug...Break…Good, because I need a tissue…
