Final Thoughts on Tomorrow Night...

Before I talk about tomorrow night, there are two points that should be discussed…

First, the “USA Today” article that said Wild Card contestants might be chosen from beyond the Top 36. So did the reporter get it wrong, or did the judges just decide not to go that route? Ryan explained who was “eligible” pretty emphatically so I’m thinking either the reporter was wrong or the show changed its mind in the last week or so. It was a little cruel to get the Jamar fans’ hopes up.

And speaking of cruel, what about bringing back all of those earlier contestants so they could get rejected—again. I didn’t catch who all of them were but I saw Brent Keith, Matt Breitzke and Jackie Tohn. So why would they do that—other than for drama? My guess is that they had to pick a pool of people to choose from so that those people could go ahead and pick a song and rehearse since there would be such little turnaround time. It makes sense, but it was still a little cruel.

And just for the record, if Brent Keith had made it into the Wild Card Round, the cries of “Ringer!” would have been heard all over America—including from my own house…

Now, let’s talk about tomorrow night…

If I had to pick the three favorites going in I would say Anoop and Megan for sure, and then maybe Jasmine. But I have a feeling that Paula will lobby for Ricky as hard as she can. I have to believe in my heart of hearts that the judges will do the right thing and put the best performers through and not the one they think will make the show more “entertaining.”

I also think one of the most interesting things tomorrow night will be how the judges handle things. Tomorrow night’s show is only an hour so it will be interesting to see if Kara can actually abbreviate her comments. I’m also wondering if maybe the judges will hold their comments to the end or something. Remember that they will make their decision before the end of the night so the Top 12 can perform for the first time next week…

The Wild Card Show airs tomorrow night at 8 on FOX. It’s going to be interesting…
