Why Frenchie Had to Go

Producer Ken Warwick spoke to TVGuide.com yesterday about David Hernandez…

“The truth is, we’re never judgmental about what people do to earn a living. They’ve got to put food in people’s mouths…We’re never judgmental about people who do things like that. If it were some sort of heavy porn, then maybe we’d have to take action. But certainly not this.”

I can hear the Frenchie Davis fans screaming now…

So, where did “Idol” draw the line? Why did Frenchie have to go and David gets to stay?

I think you have to look at the word “porn.” According to reports, Frenchie appeared on an adult website designed to appeal to men interested in underage girls. It’s also believed that Frenchie did not reveal the site to the show, which caused them to eliminate her.

But Warwick told “TV Guide” that he was not aware of David’s past either, which makes me wonder…

As much as I like David (Yes, I did vote for him.), I think the Frenchie fans have reason to be upset.

But can you imagine how different the show would have been if she hadn’t been eliminated? We would have never gotten the famous Ruben-Clay showdown, and quite possibly never gotten to see Clay at all…

“American Idol” may have never become the phenomenon it is today.

Maybe I just answered the question of why Frenchie had to go…
