The Idol Legal Report

And now here’s the latest “Idol” legal report…

Arbitration has been ordered in the Mario Vazquez sexual harassment suit.

As you may recall, Magdaleno Olmos, a former production assistant, sued Mario, Fremantle Media and FOX alleging wrongful termination and violation of the California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act. The lawsuit alleges that Mario dropped out of “American Idol” after Olmos came forward with complaints that Mario sexually harassed him and that Olmos was fired in retaliation for those complaints.

FOX News reports that Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael C. Solner ruled that Olmos knew when he was hired that he “was signing an agreement to arbitrate disputes and not file a lawsuit” and granted a defense motion to send the case to arbitration and put a hold on the lawsuit.
