What is the Big Announcement?

So just what is this big event that Ryan keeps teasing us with?

“Access Hollywood” speculated that the show was going to bring back the 12 eliminated contestants for a special wild card competition, making a top 13 instead of 12.

But if this is the “most groundbreaking event in ‘Idol’ history,” I’m going to be really mad…

I think that the big announcement is concerning the songwriting competition. “Idol” Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe has made no secret that he would like to do a show with former contestants singing the songwriting finalists but he was waiting for FOX to approve it. My thinking is that they finally have, and that will be the announcement tonight.

But we shall see…
