Sanjaya Goes Nationwide

Jim, this one’s for you…

Nationwide announced yesterday that Sanjaya Malakar will be the newest star of its “Life Comes At You Fast” ad campaign.

According to Nationwide’s press release, in the spot, Sanjaya visits a monastery in India to seek advice and he is told that he needs a retirement plan, and some work on his hair.

The Sanjaya ad is one of six new spots that will specifically target the South Asian market, according to the release.

Sanjaya was quoted in the release, saying, “I’m thrilled to star in one of Nationwide’s ‘Life Comes at You Fast’ ads, because I really love the campaign. My experience on ‘American Idol’ is a great example of how life really does come at you fast. The ad is a funny take on the serious subject of planning for retirement.”

You may remember that Kevin Federline was the most recent star of the campaign in a great ad that didn’t really receive the kudos it deserved until people learned that K-Fed was actually a good guy…

You can see it here as a reminder…
