"Band" Gets Ready to Rock

The newest attempt at an “Idol” spin-off has chosen its judges and host.

John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, Sheila E. and Australian TV personality Ian “Dicko” Dickson (“Australian Idol,” pictured left) will serve as judges for “The Next Great American Band.” Dominic Bowden of “New Zealand Idol” (pictured right) will host.

The judges will narrow down the bands to 10 semifinalists who will perform weekly in front of a live studio audience. Viewers will vote and the results will be announced at the beginning of the following episode.

The bands will perform either originals or covers of “varied styles,” according to a FOX press release. The final three groups will compete in the season finale for a contract with 19 Recordings.
