"Idol: The Musical" Shuts Down

In doing this blog, I sometimes have to report stories that it absolutely pains me to tell…

This is not one of them.

“Idol: The Musical” closed Monday after one off-Broadway performance. Producer Todd Ellis issued a statement that said the production was closed “due to a lack of advance ticket sales, a lack of positive feedback from audience members and critics and a lack of sustainable financial resources.”

In case you’ve forgotten, “Idol” was a “satirical musical comedy” centered around a group of Clay Aiken worshippers in Steubenville, Ohio.

So what happened here? Maybe the Claymates rebelled against the treatment of their Idol…

Or maybe people just didn’t want to cough up 60 BUCKS for something so stupid…
